About Linda

Linda Tagliaferro

Linda Tagliaferro was born in Brooklyn, but moved to Bayside, New York with her family when she was a child. She has lived in all of the boroughs of New York City except for the Bronx.

Linda was a fine artist before she turned to writing as a second career. She received her Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Hunter College. Then she did one graduate semester in fine arts at Temple University Abroad in Rome, Italy.

After Rome, she moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, where she lived for almost 7 years. She also attended the Bandung Institute of Technology in Java, Indonesia, where she studied fine arts and batik. She also took private lessons in Balinese dancing.

Linda studied for one semester at Villa Schiafanoia, a graduate school of fine arts and music in Florence, Italy.

While living in Denmark, Linda began working in advertising as assistant to the Art Director, and as a freelancer for an animated cartoon company.

After returning to New York, Linda worked as a freelancer in the art departments of advertising agencies. She also completed illustrations for clients like Panasonic and Wendy's. She taught a semester at the School of Visual Arts, together with her husband, artist Frederic Thorner.

Her illustrations appeared in her book, "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Decoding Your Genes." She continues to draw and paint, and has garnered awards for her cakes, which she describes as "edible art." Linda paints on rolled fondant icing with edible food colors. Her painting/cake depicting a Leonardo da Vinci angel, as well as sections of Botticelli's "Venus Rising from the Sea" won awards at the International Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Show's Salon of Culinary Art in Javits Center in NYC.
