Fundraiser For Celiac Disease On Dec.15,2007 a fundraiser for Celiac Disease will be sponsored by Joe Gannascoli (Vito) the actor from the show "The Sopranos" with the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness. We would need the books as soon as possible. Also please feel free to join us. Just let me know and I will send you a flyer. It will be held in East Rockaway, NY at his home. Celiac Disease is an autoimmune digestive disease. People with Celiac that eat foods containing gluten, their immune systems responds by damaging the villi of the small intestine.When this becomes damaged the body is unable to absorb nutrients that lead to malabsorption and other diseases that can be life threatening.Foods that contain gluten are wheat and other grains that are in everyday foods and medications. My name is Catherine Maffettone and Joe Gannascoli's is my brother-in-law.I along with my 7 year old son and my sister have Celiac Disease.I am the coordinator in recruiting donations. Joe will be dressing up as Santa and we will need to fill his bag with some great gifts for the children!
